Nihilists in Pakistan murder Ahmadis

It’s become depressingly routine in recent years to hear of murderous sectarian attacks in Pakistan during Jumu’ah prayers. Most often the targets are Shi’a. Today, the BBC reports that two places of worship belonging to followers of the Ahmadi religion were targeted and at least 80 people are reported to have been killed. No group appears to have claimed responsibility as of yet but suspicion is likely to fall upon pro-Taliban groups who have sadly increased their influence in Pakistan since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

Whatever differences one may have with others on religious doctrine to resort to mass murder like this is just unbelievable. More to the point who is actually teaching these murderers to engage in these kinds of acts?

  1. Malala Diwel says:

People like you are! You deny Ahmadis the right to call themselves Muslim. It is the institutional apartheid that is accepted and encouraged by groups such as the MCB that is the breeding ground of the intolerance that is manifest in these acts. For you to pretend otherwise is disingenuous. To say the MCB are the voice of ‘moderate’ Islam, when they are most definitely the voice of the decidedly non-moderate, political and Ahmadi bashing Jamaat-e-Islaami is something that only those that don’t understand the politics of the sub-continent will fall for. Luckily for you, the British government happens to fall within that category.
